About Me

Hi there, my name is Spencer Lekki and I’m a senior History major, Digital Arts and Humanities & Medieval and Renaissance Studies minor at Carleton College. My primary academic focus is on Early Modern Ireland, but I’ve worked on projects all over Western Europe from the Ancient and Medieval to the modern day. Outside of academics I love to swim, cook, watch soccer, and play board and video games.

DH and Me

Digitizing maps in the Norfolk Record Office

I came to DH through a class I took my first year of undergrad called “Bringing the English Past to (Virtual) Life”. As the name suggests, it combined a survey of English history with a series of digital projects (some of which are displayed on this site!). From then on my coursework danced in and around the digital until the DGAH minor was finally created my junior year and I began pursuing the field in earnest. Since then, through a combination of classes and outside work, DH has become an integral part of my academic study, including my senior thesis; a quantitative history paper on the Irish Rising of 1641.

About this Site

This portfolio is a collection of my most noteworthy and shareable DH projects. They are broadly organized by category (Preservation/The Past/Pedagogy) and when possible each description has links to the projects themselves. You can navigate to the subpages using the menu in the top right corner. Enjoy!

What’s Next?

This summer I’m heading over to Cork, Ireland to complete a Museum Studies MA at University College Cork. I hope this degree will help direct my passion for history and digital public scholarship into a more concrete expression. I’d love to chat about Ireland, museums, Premier League Soccer, digital scholarship, and anything else you can think of. Feel free to reach out via:
